Just when I thought the football gods would be kind enough to let the Premiership race go to the wire, Everton hit the panic button and Chelsea completely lost the plot, and with that the title too. It's been some time since we had the title race go to the final day. Last I remembered was errr...when Blackburn pipped United to the title in '95?
At half-time on Saturday, you would have the dream end to the season, with the Manchester and London derby coming up next week. And how would City and Arsenal fans love, just love it (quote Kevin Keegan) to throw in the spanner to end their respective arch-rivals dream to win the title. From level on points after 45 minutes, to a huge 5 point gap after the next 45, I'm sure it's too big a gap even for the Special One himself. So it's pretty much a done deal. Man United premier league champions. Chelsea the sore losers.
On another note, on Saturday was also the day Bayern Munich failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in history. What a shocker to lose to lowly Hamburg 1-2. At home. After leading 1 up. God they need help. It's also the first time I watched a Bundesliga game live on Saturday night. Add that to the list of firsts for that day.
And less we forget, closer to home the Ijok by-election was held. And no surprises to see Cikgu BN kita menang. There was no way they were losing this battle eh, hantu tak hantu. Kengkadang ragam orang politik ni mengalahkan hantu sendiri. We'll see who'll be disappearing like ghosts after this.
One last thing. This is my 401st posting to the blog. Here's to many, many more to come. Have a merry holiday everyone!
