The parade was a blast. The sight of Malaysians (not Melayu, Cina, India or lain-lain) queing up at the bus stop at 6.45 in the morning to watch the processions gave me the impression that some people do care. It was colourful. It was vibrant. It gave me the feel-good feeling.
But ironically, on the day of our country's independence, the party responsible for Merdeka have members who can't even respect something as simple as the Merdeka ceremony. They were talking, smoking, spitting and laughing to their hearts' content. If these are the kind of people who will be championing our rights, we are in deep, f***ing shit.
