Ten

sometimes it's always easy to criticise and bitch about others, when all you need is a really good look in the mirror saying,

'Mannn, u're just pathetic. Kau tu pun dua kali lima jugak.'

which makes me shutup and think.
for about 5 seconds.

Penyakit Friendster

it's been a slow day, so i apologise for the lame entry. i wanna talk about something on Friendster. and if you don't know what Friendster is, please come out of the cave u're living in. it's not healthy u know.
yeah...yeah...so Friendster is lame...so please do explain why the hell you log into it without fail 30 times a day??
anywayyy.... i'd like to highlight on something they have on the sidebar of each person's page. u know...the 'Popular searches in my network' thing. first and foremost, what the hell is the purpose of this? who actually uses this tool?? come on laaaa...the hell i care what u guys search for. jangan search cari gambar bogel aku sudah laaaa....ehhh...forget i said that.
this thing kinda gives some sorta impression on you, u know. take for example, my 'Popular searches in my network' today. here goes...all 10 of 'em:

1. paha gebu - paha, peha, whatever the spelling...it's a wonder how this one got to number one
2. cute malaysia ladies - hmmm..this one's OK, i guess. never ever get tired of cute ladies i tell ya
3. free video (sex) - another sleazy word search. it makes me wonder though, kat Friendster in banyak porn sites ke?? have u ever heard of something called Google? and what's with the kurungan on each side of the word 'sex'? do u get a better result by doing this?
4.MAZDA RX-9 - i don't have a clue what kinda car this is, but this one's acceptable lah..
5. cute japanese ladies - no matter what u believe, i DID NOT search for this...maybe later though...hehe
6. free mp3 songs - hello?? bit torrent ada, WinMX ada, LimeWire ada, Kazaa ada, iMesh ada...Friendster jugakkkkk ko cariii....sigh..
7. free prono - bloody idiots. it's PORNO. P-O-R-N-O. PORNO!! nak buat benda jahat pun typo. apadaaaaaaa....
8. kissing - ohhhhhhh....maybe i'll get lucky too...
9. meraung kesedapan - nuff said. get ur imagination running. fast.
10. body language flirting - this one's kinda funny. never thought of this, honestly. maybe should do some research of my own....

so there u have it....the ever-so-reliable 'Popular searches in my network'. is it true? is it a fake? no one knows, but one thing's for sure...
never leave Friendster without it.

Broader than life

on Saturday, 16th April 2005, New Straits Times released its final version in broadsheet format. and with that, 160 years of tradition is halted to make way for changes for the new era.
i'm a nut for nostalgia. from the things i have in my room, u can be pretty sure of that. how many people would claim to still have their Standard Four results or the offer letter for my enrollment in my secondary school? so when NST announced that they would cease production of their broadsheet edition, i was somewhat sad. it's funny though, that ever since NST was released in compact edition on 1st September last year (which i have a copy of), i never bought the broadsheet edition. the compact edition was nice and easy to read on the go, especially on the train. and it didn't take up much space too while u were having your morning roti canai. but because the broadsheet is what reminded me of the NST that i knew, well...it's like a goodbye to an old friend.
like millions of other NST readers, i too would claim to grow up with the NST. it's my dad's favourite paper so u can see the link there. memories of Sundays as a kid would be one of Papa in his favourite chair going through his New Sunday Times. not giving a damn for current events then, i would wait in vain for him to finish to go through my Sunday comics. sometimes, he would just take the comics section out just to ease my anxiety.
but as i grew older, more of the NST made sense to me. to me, the NST was a 'serious' paper. u knew u could rely on the news there, in contrast to say, Utusan Malaysia or the Malay Mail. i would love to go through the Sports section, looking forward to a weekly column by one of its sportswriters (i forgot who), who has stopped writing nowadays because of something he wrote. he openly critised a Malay ruler who holds an important position in one of the national sports bodies and well...let's just say they didn't like it. but i assume he's still writing under the pen-name Peminat Sukan.
the NST was and still is my favourite newspaper. it's only when i'm looking for jobs that i would refer to the Star. other than that, it's been my source of news and information for years now. broadsheet or not, i will still be relying on it. and since i'm a nostalgic freak, i have in my hands the final broadsheet edition last saturday and also the new-look NST out today. the new edition of the NST looks kinda 'tabloid-ish', i might say. they shouldn't have changed the font of the logo. i prefer the old one.
i still dream of one day having my own weekly column in the NST. when i'm someone worth listening to, that is. so till then, i have this blog of mine just for practice. Times have changed, maybe i should too...

Dancing In The Dark

lately, i've been thinking a lot about my life in general. so many questions, so little answers.
i need a light somewhere, something to jumpstart things. and who better to say all this than The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen:

I get up in the evening
and I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning
I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired
Man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
even if we're just dancing in the dark

Message keeps getting clearer
Radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror
I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere
I'm just living in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
baby I just know that there is

You can't start a fire
you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
even if we're just dancing in the dark

You sit around getting older
there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
come on baby this laugh's on me

there are two ironies to this song. the first is that Springsteen wrote this just after his manager had demanded for a hit single, in which later the song turned out to be. the second is that the video for this song launched the career of a young Courteney Cox, who was featured as a fan dancing with The Boss on-stage.
in writing this, maybe some of that Springsteen spark will rub off on me.

I Remembered

i remembered when we were younger, my sister and i would sometimes follow Papa to the library.
i remembered us spending hours at the children's section while he did his work.
sometimes, he would let us photocopy our little hands at the copier machine.
it was fun.

why aren't things as simple as it was then?

Superman Wannabe

yesterday, i read that the world's biggest super volcano is waiting to erupt, which would dwarf all previous natural disasters.
and i thought, 'Shit, this is my chance to save the world.'

darn....i knew i should have taken Geology.

Newcastle Week In Review

Shearer decided not to retire.
Bowyer and Dyer are bloody morons.
Newcastle lost 3-0.
Souness is one happy and angry man.

Kesimpulan: Bowyer and Dyer are bloody morons.
